Neomexicanus Pale Ale

Neomexicanus Pale Ale

We’re excited to announce the release of a special beer brewed by Second Street Brewery in honor of the Market’s 50th Anniversary!

Santa Fe, meet Neomexicanus Pale Ale! Made with malt sourced from the San Luis Valley of Colorado and a cultivar of the Neomexicanus hop of northern New Mexico, you can’t get much more local than that! Click here to learn more about this tasty brew!

This is what Second Street has to say about this incredible new beer!

We brewed this American Pale Ale this summer to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market.  We sourced some special and unique ingredients for this beer; 2 row, Vienna, and C60 Crystal malt were all from Proximity Malting located in the San Luis Valley of CO.  The signature hop in this beer is the newly released Sabro hop developed from the native northern New Mexican  hop, Neo Mexicanus.  The flavor profile is nutty malty backbone with a complex mix of bright tropical and grapefruit hop flavors and aromas, over a woody background note.  A portion of proceeds from the sale of this beer will be donated to the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market Institute.

O.G. 1.052, ABV 5.5%, IBU 36

Second Street President and Brewmaster, Rod Tweet, explained that when he first learned about this newly available hop variety, he immediately tried to source it but was unable to get enough for even a small batch because of limited availability. However, after telling the story about the Farmers’ Market and the 50th anniversary to his hop distributor, his request made it all the way to the head honchos. It didn’t take much convincing for them to agree to help make this special anniversary beer a reality.

So, stop by Second Street Brewery at the Railyard to try this special run beer for a limited time, or purchase tickets to Fall Fiesta on October 6, where Neomexicanus Pale Ale will be on tap! A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market Institute, the nonprofit sister of the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market.

While you’re at it, purchase a commemorative 50th anniversary pint glass! Pint glasses are available for purchase during any market at the Market Gift Shop and Café.
