With Comida Y Comunidad, we invite the celebration, promotion, and exploration of local foods, local agriculture and farmers, and a community conversation.

SCHEDULE
12-5pm: Farm to Frame and Healthy CENA
In the Main Lobby and Hallway, view the Farm to Farm (a collaboration between The Institute and La Familia) and Healthy CENA (La Familia) photography projects, as well as participate in  an interactive art project about intersections of local healthcare issues and food justice and shop a pop-up farmers’ market and information fair.

12-1:30pm: The Roots of Traditional Foods of New Mexico and Latin America
Join Jonathan Harrell, Carlos Balladares, Danny Suazo of SFCC’s G.A.M.E. for cooking and conversation, in the Jemez Rooms.

2-3pm: How to Build a Home Aquaponics System
Presented by SFCC Greenhouse Management Alumni, Carter Stern and Jessica Shoemaker will share how to make your own hydroponics/aquaponics home system, in the Jemez Rooms.

5-6pm: Los Niños de Santa Fe
A traditional Mexican dance group performs in the courtyard.

6pm: Plática: A conversation between local farmers and the Santa Fe community
Taking place in the Jemez Rooms, and facilitated by Dr. Andrew Lovato, SFCC Associate Professor of Speech Communication, this is a community conversation that connects community members and farmers, to gain an understanding of the land’s historical context and one another’s perspectives about what it will take to create a successful, mutually beneficial Southside Farmers’ Market (including location.) This dialogue will begin with a short reading my Lovato and poet John Casquarelli. Participating Farmers’ Market vendors are Jose Antonio Serrano (Farm to Frame), Rocio Alcantar(Farm to Frame), and Don Bustos.
