Carlos Contreras at Fall Fiesta

Joining us at 2019 Fall Fiesta on Friday, October 4 is Carlos Contreras, who will lead us through the Live Auction and will do the raffle drawing at the end of the evening.

Carlos is a member of the inaugural year of Kellogg’s Community Leadership Network Fellowship, a two-time National Champion poetry slam artist, the published author of a collection called “Time Served” via West End Press, and a nationally awarded and published performance poet. He went on hiatus as an Adjunct Professor in Chicano/a Studies at the University of New Mexico when he became the Director of Marketing & Innovation for the City of Albuquerque and Mayor Tim Keller. He has served as a Community Engagement Strategist at a local non-profit, and also worked at the Hispano Chamber of Commerce where he conceptualized and implemented community and entertainment-based events. He is father to a brilliant 3.5 year-old daughter while also a visual artist currently featured as part of the ABQ Museum’s permanent collection “Common Ground.” He is the sole proprietor of the creative consulting business Immastar Productions, which creates community engagement events that mix artists and the surrounding community, often within the walls of a local business.
