“Bringing Food Home” is a film focusing on sustainable solutions regarding Santa Fe’s long term food sources and the role urban agriculture can plan in the solution, featuring SFFM vendor, Gaia Gardens.

Since 2012, Gaia Gardens founders Poki Piottin and Dominique Pozo have grown a full array of market vegetables, plant starts, and compost tea. They have received broad support from neighbors and the Santa Fe community. However, a farm within residential zoning also caused a flurry of reactions, which raised larger questions for the community: How will this high-desert city sustain itself in the future? Will city officials support an urban agriculture plan?

The film goes beyond the specifics of Gaia Gardens’ circumstances and explores the need for visionary policy change and provides insights from other committed farmers, land-use professionals, educators and policy makers who are trying to shape our goals for sustainable food practices.

Local filmmakers David Aubrey and Nanda Currant hope to provoke constructive dialog that may urge Santa Fe and other cities toward expanding opportunities for urban agriculture.

Please join us for a panel discussion following the film, focusing on the current state of urgan ag policy in Santa Fe. Panel members include:
