WE NEED YOU!

The Santa Fe Farmers’ Market Institute (the sister nonprofit to the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market) relies on volunteers from our community to support one of the best Farmers’ Markets in the country. Like many nonprofits, it is crucial for us to have a steady group of volunteers willing to help us in many ways. Our volunteers help to ensure the success of the Institute and the Market.

The Santa Fe Farmers’ Market is a wonderful, fun place to meet farmers, our staff, and your community. People who frequent the Market care about the food they eat, as well as the environment. By becoming involved with the Institute and our programs you become an integral part of the link that aids in the survival of local family farms and artisans.

Below is a list of ways you can help the Institute and the Farmers’ Market. If you are interested in giving us a hand, email Volunteer Coordinator.

“If our hopes of building a better and safer world are to become more than wishful thinking, we will need the engagement of volunteers more than ever.” — Kofi Annan

SFFMI Volunteer Job Descriptions

Administrative/Office Support – We often need help with mailings, filing, computer support, answering the phone, and anything else that keeps a busy office running well. Grant writing and editing support is also needed.

Information Booth – This is a sometimes fast-paced, customer service oriented position. Representatives are the face of the Market and Institute during the Market. Volunteers assist staff with various transactions including dispensing tokens (used to purchase market items) to customers, answer general questions, and direct Market customers to specific vendor/farmer booths.

Market Docents – The primary task of Market Docents is to ensure Market Customers have an enjoyable and informed experience.  Docents answer questions, direct customers to specific vendors, and to the information booth, restrooms, gift shop etc.

Special Events

Special Events bring our community together to share our common interests and to support the Institute’s essential work.

Many hands are required to plan and produce a successful event. If you have time to help with the myriad of office details in advance of an event, or setting up, staffing, and /or breaking down an event – we need you!

Misc

From time to time we need to refresh our images to capture the excitement and beauty of the Market, and to promote the work of the Institute. If you are able to provide professional-level photographs, we welcome your talent.
