Enjoy a mellow and scenic half-day river-rafting trip on Orilla Verde with Los Rios River Runners. Then, you and your rafting guides will join Mesa Ruiz at one of La Mesa Organic Farm’s apple orchards to enjoy a seasonally-inspired four-course catered picnic by Chef David Sundberg.

Rafting on Orilla Verde

Spend a half-day rafting Orilla Verde with Los Rios River Runners. A mellow and scenic trip that is perfect for small children, seniors, and those who just want to relax on the river. Placid waters glide along past towering bluffs and buttes. Swallows skim the surface and dart past the raft in a dazzling display of avian acrobatics. Indian petroglyphs too. Orilla Verde trips can be done in an oar boat – powered by the guide, you just relax – or a paddle boat. Please state your preference, if you have one, when you book your trip.

Or, Funyak it! Try paddling your own inflatable one-person or two-person miniature raft, accompanied by a guide. Also known as duckies, funyaks are stable and easy to maneuver. You will get a comprehensive lesson at the beginning of the trip. Perfect for those who want a half-day introductory funyak trip, or those who are accompanying family members on the Orilla Verde section and want a bit more excitement. The only funyak trip we run in both high and low water.

Whitewater Rating: Level Two
Season: March – November

Los Rios River Runners was founded by legendary Rio Grande guide and storyteller Cisco Guevara in the mid 1970’s, to enable local residents and visitors to Santa Fe and Taos to experience the beauty and majesty of the river canyons of northern New Mexico.

Picnic Lunch in an Apple Orchard

Mesa Ruiz, La Mesa Organic Farms

Chef David Sundberg will make you a four-course picnic lunch, to be served after your river trip. Bring your rafting guides along to enjoy this delectable seasonally-inspired lunch and conversation with your host, Mesa Ruiz of La Mesa Organics, while sitting in the shade of an apple orchard near Dixon/Embudo.
