CultureSpace invites you and 11 friends to learn about the history, traditions, and artistic expressions of agave and make memories to last a lifetime.

Agave cultivation represents 2,000 years of Mexican history. Tequila is the oldest distilled spirit of the Americas, making it unique among the spirits of the continent. Mr. Carlos Rovelo is a certified Catador* and tequila expert. He has trained with tequila houses Cuervo, Sauza, and Corazon-Espolon on a variety of manufacturing methods from 100% Agave. Carlos is a connoisseur of the history, cultural traditions, and artistic representations of Maguey. Carlos and his wife, Dr. Sherry Dean Rovelo, are the owners of CultureSpace, a consulting firm dedicated to advancing the cultural expertise of their clients. CultureSpace specializes in Tequila Catas and workshops on Latin American-inspired topics.

A Cata is a formal, ritualized setting for experiencing Tequila. During a Cata, you learn about the history, culture, and production of the Blue Weber Agave plant. You sip and analyze a variety of tequilas and establish your personal taste preferences. When you experience a CultureSpace Tequila Cata, your sensory learning increases your cultural intelligence and savoir-faire. Your exclusive Cata will additionally cover the following themes:

  • The birth of Tequila
  • Tequila categories and types
  • The “plant to bottle” manufacturing process
  • The 100% Agave quality guarantee; judging value and price
  • The differences between Tequila and Mezcal
  • Mexico’s Tequila producing regions and the regulatory process
  • The Rules of Taste – Is there a “best” Tequila?
  • Read contemporary Mexican history via Tequila bottle labels
  • Unique Tequila tasting traditions
  • Agave representations in Mexican contemporary art
  • The Catador’s promise
  • “Blind sippings” of Mexico’s finest Tequilas

The cata should be scheduled no later October 1, 2020.
